OneLogin Inc.’s finance chief used to get frustrated by the messy columns of numbers that the company’s sales team produced. So he had his accounting staff double-check the data their colleagues had entered.

Since he implemented these quality checks at the San Francisco-based software firm two years ago, billing errors have gone down and Chief Financial Officer Bernard Huger has been able to forecast revenue more accurately. “Having good processes that are defined with people who own it and care about the quality—that’s going to change the quality of your data,” Mr. Huger said.
